Borrowed from Spanish homilía (homily), but with the silent ⟨h⟩ pronounced as /h/, most likely due to English influence (compare alkohol, behikulo, hedonismo, Hehoba, Hispanismo, Hinduismo, inhalador, nihilismo, rehabilitasyon).
