Isn't shénmo also a possible transliteration? --Backinstadiums (talk) 16:59, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Backinstadiums Yes, I think so. It's either poetic or regional (Taiwan?) or dated. You choose a wrong place to discuss terms. You're relying on someone watching this page or accidentally seeing your post. The place to talk about it, is WT:RFT. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 22:14, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Atitarev: According to Wiedenhof's A Grammar of Mandarin, page 415, shénmo is also a possible transliteration of 什麼 shénme, so that the last syllable of shénmo is a homophone of the last syllable of 什麼 shénme, both having a schwa --Backinstadiums (talk) 14:30, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Backinstadiums: If you expand the pronunciation section, the Mandarin subsection says "Note: Many other variant pronunciations exist." It may not have not been added because the label (usage) is not clear. I heard this pronunciation in Teresa Teng's (Deng Lijun) songs. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 19:51, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
