Borrowed from Old Persian *Arbakah, from *arbah (young; youth, child) +‎ 𐎣 (k /⁠-kaʰ⁠/, nominal suffix).[1][2] The same Iranian name is reflected as Old Armenian Արբակ (Arbak) and Classical Syriac ܐܪܒܩ (Arbak).
