Etymology

Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ἄκαμπτος. Morphologically, from ά- (á-, privative α-) +‎ κάμπτω καμπτ- (kámpto kampt-, bend, turn around) + -ος (-os). The figurative sense, semantic loan from French inflexible.[1]
